Leonard Pearlstein Gallery’s newly opened exhibition is Drexel professor Jen Blazina’s Westward Ho. The exhibit includes a range of mediums including ceramics, screenprint, and photography. I had a chance to stop by the gallery yesterday and was particularly drawn to a piece called “Ephemera.” I find old pocket watches to be quite beautiful and I love what Blazina did with them. By adding another old-fashioned element, silhouettes, she made the pocket watches into something new. The silhouettes are of people she knows so the hanging watches act as picture frames of loved ones. Overall, the display is gorgeous. If you get a chance, stop by the gallery to see it in person as well as the other items of the exhibition. There is also an opening reception tonight from 5:00-7:30 where Blazina will talk about her work.
