A while back I wrote an article about progressive book publishing. Then I blogged about a literary anthology printed as a playable deck of cards. Now I’m here to tell you about cigarettes. Some people smoke while they read, now you can read your smokes.
Featherproof Books, a small press that I mentioned in my article, has earned a reputation for putting out great contemporary fiction in the form of beautifully-designed physical objects. Now they have taken their conceptual design a step further:
Coming this fall from Featherproof is the first book by Chicago writer Lindsay Hunter – though “book” may not be the best way to put it. The story collection, Daddy’s, as you can see in the picture above, looks exactly like a pack of cigarettes. Word on the web is that each story is printed on a rolled up piece of paper, all of which are contained within a genuine cigarette box.
On a similar note, UK publisher Tank Books Just released a series of classic works printed on small books contained within cigarette boxes.
