Stumble Upon Gold

If you’re one to waste time surfing the internet you have likely heard of www.stumbleupon.com. It’s a site that allows you to generate random pages based on your interests, which for me just so happen to include; books, reading, and writing. Because of this I have found many pages linking me to vast resources for online writing communities and book providers like Project Gutenburg. Of course these things are not hard to find by doing a google search, but stumbleupon also delivers unique pages one may not think to search for.

Recently I have discovered one such page. It’s a website dedicated to increasing the speed at which you can read… for free! These types of things are always fun for anyone who loves to read, it’s an exercise you can perform with your own text directly on the site. I myself have played around with it inserting various poems and short pieces of stories to increase the speed at which I read. It may be all in my own head, but I believe I have developed some progress in my reading speed since my first time using this site.

I’ve known many people who can finish 300 page books in only a few hours, and it’s a skill I greatly admire and envy. If you feel similarly give this site a try and maybe we’ll become the ones who can read Stephen King’s IT in a single evening.
