Olympic Figure Skating

aec9b92341769dde14200dd0b1a41Like father, like son.  Well for me, as of last night, it’s like mother, like daughter.  My Mom has always watched figure skating, gymnastics, and anything on the Lifetime Channel.  I regret to admit that I’ve watched the latter two before, but it wasn’t until late last night that I completed my Mom’s list of watch should be watched on the television.

I’ve never really watched more than one or two events during the Olympics over the years.  During the summer games, it was tennis and swimming.  This year, it had only been curling until I watched figure skating last night.  I must say that I was absolutely astounded and emotionally captivated by the Canadian team’s (Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir) performance.

I’m not saying I’m hooked now on figure skating, however, I really did enjoy watching this performance.  It was absolutely beautiful and deserving of the gold medal. If figure skating just happens to be on the television, or if I’m flipping through channels and come across a skating competition featuring Virtue and Moir… only then might I be sold on watching.  As far as gymnastics and movies on the Lifetime Channel… my Mom’s choice of television programming is starting to rub off on me after all, and at times, I look forward those two things.
