For those who have a tendency to ignore the announcements on the bulletin boards around campus or immediately delete the Drexel Daily Digest from their e-mail inbox, the deadline for the third annual DPG writing contest is fast approaching (March 9th, 2010). There are three broad undergraduate categories: math and sciences, humanities, and social sciences. Submissions, if well-written and deemed eligible according to the contest guidelines, may be considered for possible publication in The 33rd, the multi-genre, interdisciplinary COAS anthology. As an added incentive, cash prizes may also be rewarded should your submission be chosen to be published.
Most of us will undoubtedly argue that we’re not English majors and therefore, shouldn’t have to necessarily read or write for pleasure. Or, perhaps, we might think that since we’re not English majors, we might not have what it takes to be published and gain recognition. But, honestly, think about it…three broad categories, with each encompassing and overlapping across a variety of majors and minors – each individual has an equal chance of being selected for possible publication and cash prize. So, why not take a chance and put yourself out there? It’s extremely reassuring and reaffirming to gain recognition through publication and besides, what better way to make your voice heard?
So, remember to mark the date: March 9, 2010 is the second round deadline for any submissions to The 33rd anthology. For additional info on the contest guidelines and general rules, please click on the following link: http://drexelpublishing.org/dpg-writing-contest/.
