Anosmia

My bedroom smells like someone died in it. More accurately, it smells like someone died in it 2 weeks ago and has been rotting away since. However, my roommate seems impervious to it, and I’ve been trying to figure out how. Even though her boyfriend is the sole cause, I don’t understand how she’s okay with the noxious fumes building up in there.

My search for an answer brought me to an interesting piece of information that I hadn’t thought to look up before. Blindness is the loss of vision and deafness is the loss of hearing; these facts are common knowledge. What about the loss of smell? Is that a condition? Turns out it is, and it’s called anosmia. The term refers to any degree of loss of smell, temporary or permanent. And, the causes range from things like allergies and the common cold to much more serious conditions like diabetes and cancer.

I’ve determined this is the only explanation as to how she can possibly stomach the smell. I can only hope her anosmia clears up so I can stop sleeping on the living room couch, or for some clever advice. Suggestions??

Wow I can’t imagine living with someone like this. It must be terrible. I think you should just run into the bedroom with a can of air freshener and spray them
