If you live in the Philadelphia area and are on the look-out for free (or inexpensive) literary events, I’ve got some information you might just be interested in.
Tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the Free Library of Philadelphia (1901 Vine Street), authors Lydia Davis and Jonathan Lethem will discuss their latest short story collection and novel, respectively. This event is free and open to the public.
On Saturday, Nov. 14, at 2 p.m., children’s book author Kate DiCamillo will discuss her new novel, The Magician’s Elephant. This event is also held at the Free Library, and is another free presentation.
This last upcoming event sounds, to me, like a must-see. On Tuesday, Nov. 17, at 7:30 p.m., L’Etage (6th and Bainbridge) is holding an “erotic literary salon,” a place for authors and fans to read their own work, or their favorite pieces in the erotica genre. This event is 21+ and costs $8 for students, $10 general admission.
