For all of you soon-to-be-graduates seeking an opportunity in metro newspapers in the coming years, your dreams may have taken another hit.
In recent weeks Rocky Mountain News has printed its last edition, our own Philadelphia Inquirer has filed for bankruptcy, and now McClatchy Co., publisher of The Miami Herald, Sacramento Bee, and 28 other daily papers is firing 1,600 of their employees.
The move will also cut the base salaries of McClatchy C. executive officers by 10% and the base salary of Chairman and Chief Executive, Gary Pruitt, by 15%.
